Ecomondo 2005. Cinquecentofiori: from automotive scrap, a car is reborn. A Fiat 500 totally rebuilt with packaging material.
-
Fiori Group’s technicians, thousands of fragments of steel recovered from packaging and several weeks of intensive work were what it took to rebuild a Fiat Nuova 500, in a work that symbolises differentiated refuse collection. The legendary Cinquino, designed by Dante Giacosa, after the first series known as the Topolino is the symbol of steel and of the economic development of the 1950s.

Cinquecentofiori was presented at Ecomondo 2005, where it was widely acclaimed, and received a visit from Altero Matteoli, Minister for the Environment.
Hundreds of fragments of recovered steel were used to reconstruct the Cinquecentofiori, a replica of the body of a fabulous Fiat 500. The car was built using the same steel with which the original was made, by several Fiori Group technicians, under the direction of Giuseppe Orazi.
The project forms part of a broader commitment towards the environment that the Fiori Group and its employees have long upheld through awareness-raising initiatives aimed at highlighting the importance of the recovery and re-use of materials. In the immediate post-war years, this practice aided the economic rebirth of the country and today means fighting against waste, protecting the environment, defending our landscape, and developing and creating value.
